Karachi Early History and Background
Karachi was a small fishing village when a group of traders moved there from the crumbling port of Kharak Bandar in the early 18th century. As well as providing natural protection from monsoon storms, Manora Head provided the best location for protecting the harbor and the Talpura Amirs who conquered Karachi from the Khan of Kalat in 1795 established a permanent fortress there. The settlement grew rapidly and was already important when it was conquered by the British in 1842 along with the province of Sindh. After that it became an army headquarters for the British and began to develop from a fishing village to an important port for the Indus region.

In 1843, a 500-mile river steamer service was established between Karachi and Multan. In 1861 a 90-mile railway was built from Karachi to Kotri. In 1864 direct telegraph connections were established with London and the interior. With the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, Karachi's importance continued to grow and it became a fully developed seaport. By 1873 it was converted into a well-developed and well-governed seaport.

Karachi temperature and weather
Karachi is a beautiful city that lies on the shore of the Arabian Sea, which is why it has mostly pleasant windy weather. Karachi receives very little rainfall but overall the moderate temperature remains breezy and windy due to the sea. It's never too cold or too hot. Karachi's weather has been a boon to the people living there, but at the same time, the humidity during the summer season makes it difficult for people to survive the heat waves.
Karachi was a metropolis, business center and previously the capital of Pakistan, facing rapid urbanization and an ever-growing population and traffic. The city has seen an unprecedented rise in temperature, especially in the summer, and the humidity is making it worse. Humidity usually stays high during the months of March to November, while it is very low in winter as the wind direction is northeast in winter. The temperature in the winter season sometimes drops below 10°C and the daytime temperature is around 26°C. However, the city faces long summers.

Below is the data showing the average temperature during different seasons of the year in one year in Karachi.

Average annual rainfall is: 218 mm (8.6 inches) |
Lack of sanitation and poor drainage |
Due to poor sanitation and lack of drainage systems in Karachi, the country's economic center faces dangers every year during the monsoon season, and even light rains flood the capital of Sindh province. The authorities cannot do anything about it and prevent the suffering of large numbers of people due to overflowing sewers and the lack of drainage channels. Therefore, the entire drainage channels are poorly designed and cannot handle the required flow, which in most cases means that the discharges flow into the sea. Several people die every year as a result of flooding and electrocution in cities. |
Karachi rising sea level |
Some experts have warned that Karachi could be completely submerged by 2060 if current sea level rise continues. It is only 10 m above sea level and this level is constantly falling. |

Targeted Killingin Karatschi
The culture of Karachi changes with time. The culture of targeted killing has recently emerged in Karachi, which has proven deadly to its citizens and the city's economic growth. Targeted killings in the city have been attributed to political, religious and ethnic prejudice. Because of the cultural merging on such a large scale, the political parties associated with particular communities develop prejudices that lead to targeted killings. For example, the MQM was a political party formed for the political interests of the Muhajir people. Other ethnic groups also founded their parties. In addition, conflicts have also increased due to religious sectarianism and the Sunni-Shia conflict.

Mohatta Palace Museum Karachi
In 1927, Shiv Rattan Mohatta, a wealthy Marwari businessman, ordered an extravagant house to be built in the neighborhood of Clifton. Mohatta earned his living as a ship handler and trader. The architect chosen for his palace, Ahmed Hussein Agha, was one of India's first Muslim architects and had come from Jaipur to take on the task of chief surveyor for metropolitan Karachi. Ahmed Hussein Agha designed many buildings in Karachi, but the Mohatta Palace was the masterpiece of his professional career.
He worked to represent and revitalize the Mughal style using a mixture of locally available yellow gizri and pink stone from Jodhpur to replicate the Anglo-Mughal palaces of the Rajput princes. This palace was acquired by the new government of Pakistan after partition in 1947 to house the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs moved to Islamabad in 1964 and the palace was given to Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah. After her death in 1964, her sister Shireen Bai lived here until her death in 1980.
It was then bought by the Sindh Government along with the Federal Government for a sum of Rs 6 million. It was decided to turn the palace into a museum to spread awareness and appreciation for the cultural heritage of Pakistan and the region. The first two phases of the renovation program were successfully completed in August 1999 and the museum opened to the public on September 15, 1999. It has been displaying artifacts and hosting exhibitions since 1999. The museum has grown from three galleries in 1999 to forty-four in 2005.
Frere HallKaratschi
Frere Hall is a significant architecture of the British era. It was built in honor of Sir Henry Frere. Sir Henry devoted himself to economic growth and also made great efforts to make Sindhi the official language of Sindh. It was Sindh's largest library for so many years before it closed. The hall reopened to the public in 2011. Frere Hall was inaugurated as the town hall in the British era in 1865. The hall served as a home for King Edward Vll. and Seth Dinshaw.
The architecture of the Frere Hall is fascinating. In fact, this is the most fascinating thing about the hall. A total of 12 architects projected Hall's architecture and design, while only one, Lt. Col. Clair Wilson. The funds were collected from the metropolis. It consists of yellowish limestone and red-grey sandstone. The yellowish stones are imported from Rajasthan and Thar to give it a finer and more attractive finish. The architecture has touches of British and local components. The hall has flying buttresses, quatrefoils, rib vaults, pointed arches. The pillars and walls have exceptional and intricate carvings.
Also on the ground floor is the Liaquat Library, which is named after the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan. It contains all the books, guides, dictionaries and manuscripts that cannot be found anywhere else. Besides books and manuscripts, Frere Hall has so much to offer nature lovers. The hall is surrounded by lush and beautifully detailed gardens. These lush gardens along with the Gothic architecture complement each other so well. Before independence, the lawns were known as "King's Lawn" and "Queen's Lawn" because of their beauty. The garden was renamed Jinnah Garden after Pakistan's independence in 1947.

Pirate threat
Pakistani seafarers have been victims of pirates time and time again. In late 2009, Pakistani fishermen were kidnapped along with their fishing boats. The fishing vessel was used as a "mother ship" to extend the range of pirates and launch attacks in the Indian Ocean territory. The first pirate death occurred in 2010 when the Pakistani captain of a sugar ship was killed in the port of Bossaso, Somalia. This threat had to be managed to ensure the territorial integrity of the region. Therefore, to overcome the threat of piracy, Pakistan launched piracy-focused operations and joined Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 in 2009 to participate in international efforts at sea against piracy and terrorism. The Pakistan Navy deployed its warships on the front lines along with aircraft to pursue objectives set by the task force.
